RCD Safety Switch Testing
Regular RCD testing ensures your residual current devices will trip when you need them most.
Fast, accurate, and life-saving.
Residual Current Devices (RCDs), commonly known as safety switches, are critical for preventing electric shocks, electrocution, and electrical fires. Dreig ensures your RCDs trip fast enough to protect life—every time.
Types of RCDs We Test
- Fixed RCDs on distribution boards
- Portable plug-in RCDs
- RCDs integrated into power boards or equipment
Testing Procedure
- Visual & Mechanical Inspection: For damage, secure fitting, and correct installation.
- Trip Time Performance Test: Using a calibrated RCD tester, we simulate earth leakage and verify trip times are within accepted limits.
- Push-Button Test Verification: Ensure functionality using internal trip mechanisms.
- Documentation & Tagging: RCDs are tagged, and test results logged for audit readiness.
Compliance Standards
- AS/NZS 3760:2022 (in-service safety inspection)
- AS/NZS 3017 (electrical installations – verification guidelines)
Recommended Test Intervals
- Construction & demolition: every 3 months
- Factories, workshops: every 6 months
- Office environments: every 12 months
